Banke Bihari mandir is the most visited and devoted Shrine in Vrindavan. ’Banke’ meansbent and ‘Bihari’ means enjoyer and that’s why Krishna who is bent in three places is called as Banke Bihari.  Banke Bihari can also be defined the other way, where Banke (Ban-ke) means of the forest and Bihari or Vihari means one who dwells thus, one who dwells around the forest is Banke Bihari.
Shri Bankey Bihari Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, in the holy city of Vrindavan in the Mathura district It is situated near to the RADHAVALLABH JI Temple.This temple is among the 7 temples of Thakur of Vrindavan including Sri Radhavallabh ji, Shri Govind Dev ji and four others. Bankey Bihari ji was originally worshiped at Nidhivana. Bankey means “bent in three places” and bihari means “supreme enjoyer.”

In the phrase Bankey Bihari, the term ‘Bankey’ suggests ‘bent at three places’ and ‘Bihari refers ‘the Supreme enjoyer’. Thus, Bankey Bihari is the benefactor of bliss and pleasure. Lord Bankey Bihari is also known Thakurji, the owner of everything. The black wooden idol of Bankey Bihariji was brought in this temple from Nidhivan by Swami Haridas. The services made to deity is regarded as the ‘sewa’ of the deity. At that time, Swami Haridas tendered the ‘sewa’ of Bihariji to Goswami Jagannath.

चरणों से निकली गंगा प्यारी,

जिसने सारी दुनिया तारी।
मैं उन चरणों के दर्शन पाऊं।

दास अनाथ के नाथ आप हो।
दुःख सुख जीवन प्यारे साथ आप हो।
हरी चरणों में शीश झुकाऊं।
श्री बांके बिहारी तेरी आरती गाऊं॥

श्री हरीदास के प्यारे तुम हो।
मेरे मोहन जीवन धन हो।
देख युगल छवि बलि बलि जाऊं।
श्री बांके बिहारी तेरी आरती गाऊं॥
